About WOW
Work Options for Women is a unique social enterprise with a proven track record of success. Since its founding over 12 years ago, WOW has maintained a simple, but critical mission: to combat homelessness and poverty by providing unemployed women with the confidence and skills they need to become gainfully and permanently employed in the food service industry.
With a special focus on those who have struggled with other job training programs and are threatened with chronic poverty, WOW helps all clients end welfare dependence.
WOW has grown from operating out of a donated kitchen to now operating two training centers: a cafeteria at the Denver Human Services building and a cafe/restaurant in Downtown Denver. Based on WOW's recent growth and transition of executive leadership, 2010 will be a year of:
- Maintaining the excellent WOW program to achieve the organization's mission.
- Solidifying program operations to ensure coordinated efforts among case management staff, DHS cafeteria staff, and at the new WOW restaurant, Cafe Options.
- Enhancing WOW's systems and infrastructure.
- Refining the WOW training program to ensure the conveyance of marketable skills and successful job placement in light of current market conditions.
